Back in 2015 I was helping some mates at RunxFun to run a stand at Bike Expo in Roma and on the nearby Aprilia stand I spotted their two official WSB riders signing autographs for a massive queue of fans. I went over to say hello as I recognized Leon Haslam and I helped him with some Italian questions and we had a great chat, we ended up swapping phone numbers too. His team mate at that time was Jordi Torres and he too was great fun.
Fast forward to 2022 when I went to watch the 24 hour motorbike race and to my suprise Leon was there riding for a private French Kawasaki team and they led the race for many laps and hours mainly thanks to his speed as he was much faster than the other 2 riders until the engine gave up after 20 hours!! So I texted him to say well done and he replied, offering a drink later at his hotel near the airport, of course I accepted.
Imagine my suprise when I arrived and was greeted not just by Leon but also by his lovely model wife Olivia and his Dad Rocket Ron and Mum Ann!!!! Was I suprised, yes very. And what a lovely family they turned out to be, really down to earth and totally modest too. What a lovely evening, they headed off to bed very early as they had a flight at 6am and were rather sleep deprived, to say the least!! Just a few pics below, LOVELY family.
