My holiday plans for 2023 yessss…….

With fingers firmly crossed that the Russian army do not invade Western Europe and that COVID keeps its very nasty head down, I am busy planning my 2023, following our almost three year long stay- home hiatus. Not strictly true as we escaped in 2022 a bit.

  1. Firstly I am heading to the UK in March with my trusty Merc Vito van. I have planned the dates around Nick the Sanders as he will be at Alf England Motorcycles on the 18th of March. I have already booked my cross channel ferry ticket with DFDS (cos I really don’t like tunnels and I will not return to P and O Ferries, sadly) and I have a flexible ticket as I cannot predict exactly what time I get to Calais as it is about 1900km from my garage in Tramonti!! I usually aim to stay overnight in the lovely Ibis Style in Sallanches near Chamonix cos this is more or less halfway and they have excellent beers plus nearby shopping and eating facilities.
  2. Next plan is Le Mans in April for the motorcycle 24 hour WEC race. I have booked a lovely hotel in the town and from there to the circuit is not very far. I have visited the lovely circuit several times for Moto GP but never for the 24 hour race so this should be a great experience. My old mate Barnes is also coming for the race weekend so we will have loads of beers and fun for sure!!! Not sure yet if I will ride or drive there, I will decide nearer the time.
  3. In September 2022 I visited the Bol D’Or 24 hour race at the Paul Ricard circuit and wow what amazing fun, I had not visited for many many years so for me 2022 was a great experience which I decided to repeat this year. I have booked a super hotel in Marseille city and I intend to drive there in my Vito van with a bike on board and then visit the track by bike. Old Barnes has also booked to come with a mate, they have a hotel near to the track so we will meet and er have some beers for sure.
