Ok hands up all of you who know the French chain of shops called Maisons du Monde. Er few. And now hands up who has heard of the hotel chain Maisons du Monde?? Nobody. Ok let me explain what I just discovered during my recent stay in lovely Marseille as I had booked a Suite in their Marseille hotel.
Maisons du Monde is a French competitor to IKEA but further upmarket so in other words they sell a huge range of classy household goods and furniture. They have 357 stores in 9 European countries and employ more than 8,000 people so their numbers are impressive, of course the majority of the shops are in France as well as Italy and Spain and they pulled out of the UK post Brexit, sob. Recently they have also entered the hotel market and they so far have opened 3 hotels in France and each hotel is located near to one of their shops. One of these is in Marseille and by chance I had booked a Suite which is about 150m from the hotel.
Little did I know that our lovely suite (on 2 floors) was fully furnished with their products and wow it was beautiful! And we also visited the nearby shop just to see the quality and prices of their products and we were very impressed, alot of their products come in from the Far East and the quality seems truly excellent.
