I think that it is fair to say that almost every child in the UK loves to eat pasta, and most adults too. And these days pasta is available across the UK in all of the big supermarket chains where you can purchase ready made pasta dishes (to be simply heated up in the microwave) as well as dried pasta which needs to be cooked and prepared into a dish of some kind.

And here many of us in the UK fall down as pasta is not our traditional dish so we are not generally experts at preparing pasta dishes so I thought that some tips may be useful. For instance the Italians tend to cook the pasta with the sauce whereas the Brits will simply put the sauce onto the boiled pasta and serve.

Look please at these photos to see how an Italian lady cooks lemon pasta….and I also have a few videos of her at work so ask me if you wanna see them….and ps it is also true that we are very lucky because we grow our own lemons and they are fantastic!!

So the message is really cook the pasta as suggested on the packet less 1 minute and then put the pasta with the sauce and cook together for perhaps a minute until the sauce and the pasta are kind of merged together. This makes things MUCH tastier.

PS it is also true that the price of olive oil is currently on the increase. BUT the Italians will never use any other oil I think cos it is simply the best….

Dearest Claudia THANK YOU for this interesting question!!! Of course not every consumer has lemons from Amalfi and extra virgin olive oil available. No worries, you must work with what you have. Of course the pasta will still be good not perfect so please come to Amalfi to taste THE BEST!!!!
