The Amalfi Coast is always busy and the town of Amalfi becomes totally overwhelmed during the holiday season, ok this we all know. I am told that the roughly 3,000 residents become more than 30,000 folks per day when things get warm and busy so as you can imagine the traffic becomes awful. The 3 car parks in the town are all full by about 10am and then visitors arriving by car are obliged to go elsewhere!!

Following the horrible pandemic things have hotted up again and like last year it seems that the tourist season is starting about now (mid March) also because the weather is already spring like, March becomes like May sort of.

So my suggestion for anyone thinking of visiting is really the same but even more so BOOK VERY EARLY AND VISIT OUT OF SEASON IF POSSIBLE to avoid the worst of the crowds. Travel by water and not by road to avoid the traffic jams and the very expensive car parks (and to stay cool) as a car here is totally not a good idea. And travel as early in the day as possible when it is cooler and less busy.

The ferries are excellent along the entire coast from Salerno to Positano, see details at Travelmar. The best car park is the multi story underground called Luna Rossa which works great but is very expensive as well as full!!.

Good luck!!!
