Well my Merc Vito van was looking sad recently, I had to replace the original headlights. The van is 2017 so not old BUT she has 250k kms on the clock so she has been very well used over the years and the lights were crazed FROM THE INSIDE!!! In the old days cars used glass headlights so in the event you got a stone through the headlight then you simply replaced the front glass. These days (for saving weight I guess) the headlights are instead plastic and are sealed units so you can polish the plastic but if the corrosion is on the inside of the lens then you must replace the whole unit. CRAZY.
In addition I recently had a piece of metal on the motorway damage the front bumper (I was in a tunnel overtaking a truck so there was nowhere to go!!) so I purchased 2 new Hella headlights, 2 new foglights (cos one was smashed by the metal bar) plus a new alloy cover for the rear bumper which was bashed TWICE recently when the van was parked in France. Sob.
So I took the van last week with all of the new parts to my local body shop (where I also work part time) so I knew that he would do a good job AND treat me very well. Indeed he kept the van 3 days and charged me only 150 Euro which for all the work involved is I think great value.
Tthe old Vito is now restored to her former glory, happy days indeed and ready for our trip down to Estepona in the south of Spain. We leave at the end of May. Pics below.
