I have really enjoyed my S4 experience. I bought the car back in Jan 2020 just as we were approaching lockdown so I used her very little for the first 18 months of course, I just sorted some er teething problems. The UK seller was less than 100% honest when he told me that the car had never been involved in ANY shunts, it had and thus the power steering dumped its fluid and the engine fans would come on randomly and flatten the battery.
I managed to solve these problems with the help of a friendly local mechanic. But I failed to solve the airbag light which refused to switch off, I suspect a new sensor plus reprogram is required but I never solved it. The only time the car let me down over the years was when the main engine water radiator failed on the motorway which could have been a disaster. I had driven to the far north of Italy for a weekend so about 900 kms each way, on the return journey when I was close to Orte a low water warning light came on so I pulled off at the next exit and drove to a store to purchase some distilled water but when I added the 2 litre bottles I could not see the level in the overflow tank.
Puzzled I drove very gently to a mate who lives nearby and he diagnosed a dead radiator which had rotted out from the inside. He not only lent me a car to go to my evening with mates in Roma, he then found a brand new Audi rad in Germany and fixed the car for me thanks Riccardo! And the temperature gauge never moved which for an aluminium engine with two cylinder heads was my main concern of course.
I have covered about 40k kms with the S4 and loved it but recently found that I was using her very little so I decided to move her on. Hence a 2 day gentle drive Amalfi to Calais and the next morning DFDS to Dover and I dropped the car with Slough Van who will sell her for me asap. Shame but hey, great fun car thanks S4!
