To say that Andalusia is beautiful is totally true and as a holiday destination it takes alot of beating. Looking out of my appt window at the sea this morning we saw several dolphins leaping gracefully out of the water followed by many seabirds feasting on whatever was then made available, such an amazing spectacle.
But the beauty goes far deeper. Since Spain came out of the Franco era only about 50 years ago Spain has been making up for many lost years of democracy. And goodness, time has been made up. The Spanish Govt has invested very heavily in tourism and sport and it shows. They have overtaken much of Europe and golf in particular is now a mainstay of the economy.
I have just visited Estepona for the fourth time cos I love the place! I drove down from Barcelona after the ferry from Genova Italy as the ferry saves me about a day on the motorway. Everything I see and do in Spain I like and compared to the countries that I know well like Italy, the UK and France Spain is totally not expensive. Indeed we have done plenty of shopping to take home! Beer. Ham. Wine. All super quality and great value for money, perfect.
If you like golf then the south of Spain is a no brainer but even we for non golfers the place, the scenery, the climate and everything else is truly WONDERFUL!! We will surely visit again soon!!
