Recently we rented a small self catering appartment in a little town called Palinuro. Palinuro is in the south west corner of the Province of Salerno and is a traditional and unassuming holiday town for the Italians, you see very few overseas visitors. It feels like you step back 20 years or so when you visit this area.
The feel of the town is hospitality all round, well organised and very well kept too. Shopping, eating and property rental are all excellent value and the fresh food (fish, cheese, fruit and meat in particular) are all first class but not expensive.
We used the local Deco supermarket which was well stocked and the service was great, the lady Manager runs the place really well and seems to specialise in local products of top quality, the tomatoes and mozarella were fantastic! And her dog Billy is very sweet. We visited the Beach Club Lido Le Conchiglie where the beach as well as the food and drink were great!!
I visited the lovely port several times and the port combines working ships so fishing and boat tours with alot of private leisure boats too and is all clean and well maintained. LOVELY place to visit and the sea is super clean and I saw fish swimming even around the boats in the port.
