Well here we go again. It would seem that in todays social media dominated world, many tourists ambition to get some likes and followers means that they will often take more and more stupid risks. And when it all goes wrong then we, the public and the taxpayers and the emergency services, are left to pick up the pieces and the costs of course.

So yesterday the latest idiot was a 34 year old Belgian man on holiday in the Amalfi area. He had the brilliant idea to dive into the sea from a road bridge. Ok. BUT the height of the bridge from the sea is almost 30 metres. Ah. And as may well be expected when he hit the water he suffered multiple fractures so the locals called the emergency services. He was rescued by boat and transported to Amalfi where a helicopter then took him to Salerno hospital, the reports say that he managed to speak during his er adventure. See one of the reports here.

So my point is WHY should his stupidity cost US and not cost HIM anything??? As far as I know he will not be asked for any money at all for the massive rescue costs incurred as a result of well not an accident more just a CRAZY stunt. And I bet that he was being filmed by his mates during all of this. Madness indeed. Help.
