Only a few months ago the place below our house in Amalfi changed hands again. Since I first visited Amalfi this place has been a clothes shop, an Irish pub, a Sushi restaurant, an Italian restaurant and recently became a pizza house called Carlo Fiamma. Given that we are not in the town centre then the pedestrian traffic passing in not nearly as much as the traffic in the town centre for sure, which is perhaps why the previous activities were all fairly short lived.

Whereas Carlo had an existing pizza business nearby PLUS a great reputation before he moved to Amalfi so he had a heads start, as they say. The restaurant opened in May so only a few months ago but goodness, it hit the ground running. At weekends the place is full with a queue so you need to book well in advance, and they work until the last folks go home so this can be even 2am which means that we must close all of the windows to keep the house fairly quiet.

We have eaten there several times and other times we purchase a pizza take away and the quality of the food is fantastic. Perhaps the best pizza I have ever eaten. Given that they work in the town they are not allowed to use a wood fired oven so they purchased the best electric pizza oven that money can buy and the pizza taste is wonderful so no complaints there. They also have a good selection of wines to offer plus of course a few draught and bottled beers so the drinks too are great.

So if you visit this area you really must not miss the wonderful pizza house, it is truly EXCELLENT.
