I decided that I would like to see an auction in the UK in November. Not any old auction but a very big one at the NEC where my Petronas Yamaha R1 will be up for grabs with Iconic Auctioneers. I bought this limited edition R1 from YART a few years ago as it seemed like a good idea at the time but it is time to move her on to a new owner. The auction takes place on the 10th of November at 11am.
So I started to make some preparations and I had my faithful Mercedes Vito serviced last week. The service was going to be just the annual oil and filter but then it grew from chatting with the techs when I realised that I had no idea when the automatic gearbox was last serviced, so we decided that now was a good time. The van has covered about 24k kilometres since the last service and the total is now 276k kilometres, I bought her at 227k in November 2022 so I have added about 40k in 2 years. So a total service including gearbox oil and filter was carried out and the van feels great!.
I will visit Milan on my way north to attend a Degree Ceremony for my daughter and then on to Paris as a mate asked me to transport him and his scooter from France over to the UK where he now lives (so this will pay me some fuel!!), then from Paris up to Calais to stay at my favourite Hotel de la Plage which is as the name suggests, almost on the beach so you can watch the ferries coming in and out of the massive port. AND Calais is also a very pretty town!!
I generally prefer the ferry (over the tunnel ) to get across the English Channel to the UK but when I looked at the three ferry companies I found that the ferry prices were about the same as the tunnel so this time I booked Le Shuttle as it saves at least 2 hours. I also booked 3 nights at my favourite Midlands hotel The Blue Boar so I am all set!! Here we go (soon). As usual I will also visit Alf England of course, the best motorbike shop in the Whole Universe as far as I know.
PS Stop Press Martin has asked me to purchase some bits for the EBikes from Omegna in the north of Italy so I must add Omegna to my route…..
