Er well it seems that I have once again purchased something that nobody else wanted. I recently sold a truly fast bike (Yamaha MT10 which has about 160 horses) back to Martin at Alf England in the Midlands and so I thought that a four wheeler may be more er age-appropriate. As they say.
So I know a car expert who is an Irish fellow living and working in the South of France. Yes, I was suprised too. I met him in Italy recently where he was viewing a classic Alfa Romeo. He specialises in classic cars and Alfas in particular. The man is Richard Chambers and his family is famous is the automotive world as his Great Grandfather founded Chambers Motors in the early 1900s. The company operated in Belfast for some 25 years, so the passion for cars and motors was then passed down through generations I guess.
Anyway I saw on his website that he has a lovely and totally original 1987 manual BMW 730i in white, what a lovely car I thought. Manual 5 speed too, which is much rarer than the automatic 4 speed, with only 70k kms from new. Here she is:
So now I just need a few details like UK registration and insurance, the good news is that next year the car turns 40 so becomes eligible for old car status to no need for MOT plus very inexpensive insurance, so I guess she will now sleep in the garage for a while. Watch this space!!
