Ever since I could afford one, I have purchased Arai helmets for my motorbike riding. When I was about 16 and began to ride with mates (on their bikes, I remember Robin had a stunning Honda CB400/4) my Dad lent me the money to buy an AGV full face and then later I had a variety of helmets until 15 ish years ago Alf England started to sell Arai so I purchased two! The model at that time was the Chaser.
Fast forward to September 2025 and I rode from Italy up to France to see the famous Bol Dor 24 hour endurance race, about 1200km each way. On the way north one of the two visor hinges came loose so I could only use the visor when closed which is ok on the motorway but far from ideal. The next day at the wonderful Paul Ricard circuit I want to see the small Arai booth in the pits (so for the racers) and I asked if by any chance they could help me.
They took the helmet apart and started cleaning it.BUT then they told me that they had no spare parts as the Chaser was too old!! But one of the guys took a picture of the helmet and sent it to his fellow worker who was coming the next day and sure enough when I returned the next day they fixed the helmet and suggested that it was time to replace the Chaser with a new helmet. I returned with a few cold drinks to thank them for the repair.
This year I returned to the circuit as I LOVE this race. In the meantime I had taken their advice and purchased a new Arai Quantum. As soon as I arrived at the Arai stand my helmet was taken from my hands and the young Japanese guy, he removed the visor and started cleaning everything!! The other guy was one of the two from last year and he recognised me so we had a good chat and he complimented me on my new helmet! In the meantime the Japanese man gave me the helmet back and it now looked fantastic so I went to get a few soft drinks for them and then the lady on the stand even took a photo of the three of us.
